Paul Anka on Broadway

In the world of show business trivia, here's a factoid so obscure it's not even mentioned on Paul Anka's official website!  On July 13, 1964, the 22-year-old Anka began a one-week run on Broadway in the starring role of Sammy Glick.  Anka had just completed a four-week engagement at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in June, and was booked as the vacation substitute for over-the-title star Steve Lawrence.  Although Lawrence missed many more performances over the next year, Anka never returned to the role Click here for his bio in the Sammy Playbill.
